Cyanotype Printing Workshop

Create stunning prints with the sun! In this beginner-friendly workshop, students will learn how to coat cyanotype paper and make contact prints using a variety of materials like plants. You'll leave class with beautiful and unique works of art, suitable for framing. Feel free to bring any materials from home you want to experiment with.

The cyanotype process uses a chemical mixture that creates Prussian blue images when exposed to UV light and washed in water. This technique was invented in 1841 by Sir John Herschel and popularized by photographer and botanist Anna Atkins. The process of creating cyanotypes is a great introduction to alternative photographic methods.
